In the last couple of years we left the Best Western Plus brand and reopened as the Syracuse Grand: an independent, locally-run hotel.

Same building. Same front desk team a lot of you already know. Same indoor pool, same hot breakfast in the morning, same free parking out front. What changed is the name on the sign and the website you book through — which is now syracusegrand.com.

Why we rebranded

More flexibility, better stays.

Going independent let us do a few things the brand structure didn't make easy:

  • Better direct rates. No franchise fee built into every nightly rate means we can match or beat what you'd see on the booking sites — without you giving up 15% to a middleman.
  • Local packages. SU game day weekends, NYS Fair stays, Empower FCU Amphitheater concert nights, Micron contractor rates — we can put those together without waiting on corporate approval.
  • Faster room upgrades. We're putting money back into the building on our own timeline instead of a brand-mandated PIP cycle.

None of that changes the basics. Two-queen rooms, king rooms, and king suites. Indoor heated pool and hot tub, open daily. We left the brand and went independent. The franchise model worked for a long time; eventually the math and the flexibility tipped the other way. Same hotel, just no longer flying the Best Western flag.
